A brute force at...@Gwendy - you are quite correct. A brute force attack to crack AES 256 cypher text is possible given enough time. The main problem is that it will take ALL the fastest Cray computers working together in unison multitudes of time longer than the age of the universe to complete. After all it is only 2^256 possible keys which have to be tried with 4 rounds of non-linear substitution. I will extend the challenge to you alone for one calendar year so you have 365 days to crack this starting today to collect your $500.

No one has cracked AES.Duane Nickullhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08767498160563891543noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17460203.post-20499011856181912862011-04-27T08:49:57.402-07:002011-04-27T08:49:57.402-07:00Duh. You can edit PDF's if you print them and ...Duh. You can edit PDF's if you print them and rescan them. This will result in TIFF pictures, which you can convert into ... a PDF.
This DOES require:
1. That there's no ACCESS or PRINT restriction, but merely a restriction on editing, copying etc.
2. That you will print this to paper. Printing MS doc image doesn't seem to work, but I haven't tried.
3. That you have a scanner.

This method doesn't work of course if the document is completely access restricted.
But any password can be broken, if you have enough time and a big enough computer. However, I can imagine this tool can be used to accomplish the task (brute-force / dictionary attack) - haven't tried it myself though.

AndreasAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
